Brady L. Kerkman
Chief Executive Officer
Brady L Kerkman is originally from Clearwater, NE and is a graduate of Mount Marty College in Yankton, SD with a double major in psychology and sociology. He comes to Central Health Center, Inc. with a broad array of experience working for Corrections in South Dakota, directing two national disability programs in South Dakota, managing policy and compliance for the Utah Department of Health, and operating a child advocacy center advocating for young adults who fell victim to abuse and sexual assault. Brady has a strong passion for mission driven organizations that are prevalent in non-profit agencies. He is very committed to serving the most vulnerable and has a strong commitment to the team in which he works alongside with. During his spare time, which is generally very limited when running a non-profit center; he enjoys spending time with his wife Maria, son Dimitri, and their three miniature pinchers. He enjoys home projects, wood working and painting.

Dr. Steven Husen
Medical Director
Dr. Steven Husen MD - Contracted Medical Director has been with Central Health Center for the past 24 years as the Medical Director. He is originally from Wood River, Nebraska. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and received his medical degree from University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Husen is the founder of Family Practice of Grand Island which opened their doors in 1978 and have been a valuable resource to surrounding communities. He brings valuable insight, experience and supervision to the clinical services provided at both clinics within Central Health Center. Central Health Center is fortunate to have a well-respected and esteem member of the healthcare community as part of their team.

Executive Assistant 
Gayle Smidt is the executive assistant to the chief executive officer of Central Health Center. She has been employed at the Center for five years this October. Gayle has taken classes in accounting and computers at the University of Nebraska – Kearney. She has been married for 44 years and has three children and five grandchildren. She enjoys gardening, reading, and trail riding. She and her husband live with one cat, one dog, two horses, six chickens.

Melody Grim
Patient Accounts and IT Director
Melody Grim is the patient accounts and IT director for Central Health Center. She started with Central Health Center as a volunteer in 1994 and the organization quickly realized her skill set and she became a full-time employee. Melody oversees all patient accounts and supervision of the office manager. She enjoys the diverse cross-section of individuals that Central Health Center serves on a daily basis. Melody finds the work she does here extremely rewarding, knowing that many people’s lives are better off today than they were the day before, because of services that we provided them. She has worked with many staff over the past 23 years and has found the team at Central Health Center to be very focused and committed. She is honored to be part of such a phenomenal and excellent team to work with. This job is different than any other, as we not only work hard, but we play hard. During her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
Angela Paul
LPN - Clinical Assistant II
Angela Paul joined Central Health Center in 2011 as an LPN in our Grand Island clinic. She graduated in 2003 from Central Community College with her LPN. Angela comes to Central Health Center with experience in long-term, acute, rehabilitative care and as an elementary and middle school nurse. Angela is known to set the tone for superior customer service with high patient satisfaction as she treats every patient with the highest level of integrity, professionalism and courtesy. She is also known for being very proud of maintaining a very neat and clean work area and lab, as she limits the traffic to her and her patients. She spends her free time with her four children and her two dogs.
Christy Olson
Patient Accounts Clerk
Christy Olson resides in Edgar, NE. She is the proud mother of two great children. Christy joined the Central Health Center team in January of 2016 as the patient accounts clerk, where her main responsibilities include working with insurance companies, taking payments, and quality control for agency coding. Christy has fit into the dynamic of Central Health Center and the strong teamwork mentality. She prides herself on high quality work and is rewarding to know that she had made a difference in patient’s lives. During her spare time, she enjoys reading, camping, riding ATVs, and relaxing outdoors on the deck.
Jessica Larraga
Office Manager
Jessica Larraga comes to Central Health Center with previous experience in working with long-term care. When first employed at Central Health Center, I was a Clinical Assistant I. I have learned that hard work, commitment and professionalism is recognized, as I was promoted to the Office Manager. Within the past two years of my employment at Central Health Center, I have gained a great amount of experience from patient services, grant requirements, pharmaceutical contracts, ordering supplies and leading a team of Clinical Assistants. Within the past two years, I have seen many changes to include the addition of primary care, mental health services, refugee screenings, and now the goal of mobile medical unit. Central Health Center’s ability to provide services to patients on a sliding fee scale and flexible payment plans helps ensure patients receive prompt, quality and affordable healthcare. Central Nebraska has a strong need for services provided by Central Health Center and I am proud to be a member of this team who is constantly looking at expanding to better serve those who are most vulnerable.

Stephanie Lueninghoener, is a native of Kearney, Nebraska. Her husband and four children are excited to be part of the community and see it grow over the years. She graduated from Kearney High School and went onto graduate from Joseph’s College of Beauty – Kearney in April of 2005. Stephanie worked as a cosmetologist for five years, before returning to school to earn her associates of science in medical assisting services from Herzing University in 2013. In 2017, Stephanie became certified as a medical assistant. She has worked in skilled care as a CNA/med aid, until being employed full-time at Central Health Center in Kearney in January 2017. Stephanie has great respect for the patients of Central Health Center and looks forward to meeting and serving each patient.

My name is Azucena I have been with CHC for a little over 3 months. Prior to coming to CHC I worked at the Grand Island Veterans Home Full Time for almost 2 years. In my spare time I love spending time with my family cooking grilling outside and just sitting out by the bonfire on chilly nights roasting marshmellows. What I have enjoyed the most about working here has been the staff they are awesome to work with. I also enjoy being involved in helping young females getting started on a contraceptive method to lower the rates of teen pregnancies as well as helping families who are low income based and can't afford medical services any where else.

My name is Ana; I started at Central Health Center in July for my externship from Kaplan University. I have enjoyed the time I have been here. I worked at St. Francis hospital for three years and the Veteran's home for four years. i enjoy helping and seeing people smile.

I believe every person deserves to feel safe, secure, and at peace within themselves. My approach is to work with a client collaboratively. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families in a relaxed setting. I have over five years of experience working with mental, emotional and behavioral health issues. I also have over eleven years of experience with career counseling and working with individuals experiencing academic difficulties.
